Week beginning: 14th June, 2026.
‘You received without paying; give without pay’ (Matthew 10:8)
On this weekend, the Mother Church invites us to see the world through the eyes of Jesus. He looks upon the crowds and is moved with compassion because they are harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. His response is not judgment but mercy. He then calls ordinary people to share in his mission, reminding us that the harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few.
We are reminded that Christian discipleship is never passive. We are invited to notice the struggles of those around us and respond with practical love. The needs of our families, communities, and world remain great, and Christ continues to send workers into his harvest. The question is not only whether others will answer that call, but whether we will.
When we offer our time, gifts and compassion in service of others, we become instruments of God’s presence, mercy and hope today.
