Week beginning: 23rd November, 2025
This Sunday is the feast of Christ the King, a day also dedicated to young people in our Church. We celebrate the almighty power and glory of Jesus Christ, King of the universe, the King of kings and the Lord of lords; a power that is eternal and everlasting; it can change people, can change thinking, as well as situations and circumstances. To be a king, is to be a leader of all leaders. A good king is able to govern his people wisely and justly; he will protect, and provide for, his people so that they will have peace and prosperity.
The Gospel tells us of the inscription over Jesus:” This is the King of the Jews.” Obviously, this notice was intended to mock and insult Jesus, as He was nailed to the Cross and condemned to die as a criminal. But we know that a true king is able to protect his people and save them from their enemies: Jesus is this Universal King because He overcame evil and conquered sin and death. What’s more, He is the true Saviour because He also leads us from this world to be with Him in paradise.
We believe that there is an eternal Paradise awaiting us where we will be with Jesus forever and we all want to go to our eternal home in Heaven. Jesus, our King, will lead us there. Let us obey our King, and serve Him by doing what He wants of us. So, let us ask Jesus to remember us, and all those who acknowledge Him as their King and Saviour. May we journey together with them to be with Jesus in Paradise.
