Week beginning: 16th March, 2025
In the account of the Transfiguration the true divine nature of Jesus was revealed and it manifested over His human nature. In showing us who He really is, Jesus reminds us of who we are: God’s children, created in His image.
Sin has disfigured and deformed our human nature: instead of radiating God’s holiness, we show the ugliness of sin and evil; instead of being loving, kind and gentle, we give in to selfishness, anger, pride; instead of being heartwarming, we become nerve-chilling to others; instead of being charitable, we choose to be irritable and irritating. But the voice that came from the cloud calls us to “listen to Him” in order to convert.
We have listened to the voice of the world, following its ways, attracted to the lights of glamorous appearances. Commanded by God, let us listen to the voice of Jesus and go up with Him to the mountain of prayer, the Church, so that we too can see who we truly are.
May we be healed of our sinfulness and restored to the image of God, in which we are created.
Please pray for the continued welfare of our Holy Father, Pope Francis:
We thank you for the loving service of Pope Francis and the hope he has inspired in so many in your great mercy. Have mercy on him in his illness now, we pray, and guide the medical staff in his care. Grant him peace and healing. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
