Week beginning: 9th March, 2025

Since Ash Wednesday, we have begun the season of Lent. Lent is the Church’s call to us to remember the relationship God established with us, to evaluate that relationship and do what is necessary to deepen it. And the traditional means of Lent are Prayer which is justice towards God, Fasting which is justice towards self, and Charity or almsgiving which is justice towards neighbour. During this time, we are asked to give up something we enjoy, to add something that will bring us closer to God and to give time and help to others somehow. Also, we resolve to live more like Jesus, we want to live good lives and most of all we want to resist temptations.

Let us then work hard to build up good habits and patterns of behaviour that will keep us on the straight and narrow. Let us live disciplined lives with our ultimate priorities clear in our minds so that we can inhabit this world in a pure and contented way, sure and certain that the journey on which we are embarked has Jesus Christ, our Lord, as its goal and heaven as its reward.

Please pray for the continued welfare of our Holy Father, Pope Francis:

We thank you for the loving service of Pope Francis and the hope he has inspired in so many in your great mercy. Have mercy on him in his illness now, we pray, and guide the medical staff in his care. Grant him peace and healing. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
